The Real-Life Journey

First Denham’s Discipleship Pathway

Where are you in your faith journey?

Whether you are exploring the Christian faith, beginning a relationship with Jesus, or growing and maturing in your faith, we provide a number of groups and resources designed to help you.

We are all on a real-life journey and we believe God provides us the answers to all of life’s questions through the Bible and through a personal relationship with Jesus. Our small groups are a place to explore these questions in an open and loving atmosphere.

Consider these four intentional steps of a faith Journey

  • Connecting with Christ and a faith community

  • Growing in Christ through bible study and discipleship

  • Serving others through ministry and mission opportunities

  • Leading others to follow Christ and make disciples

Connecting

You may have questions or doubts about what the Bible says or questions about the church. What does living for Christ mean? How can I have a personal relationship with Jesus? These are aspects of connecting with God. We call this “vertical relationships” because they are between people and God. This is the most important relationship you will ever foster.

As you connect with God, you also will develop an increasing desire to connect with other Christ-followers. We call this “horizontal relationships”. These relationships will provide you encouragement, support, friendship, and accountability throughout your faith journey.

God wants every person to connect with Him in three ways:

  1. Connect with Christ through a personal faith relationship

  2. Connect with the Church through baptism

  3. Connect with a Christian Community through Connect Groups

Growing

You are maturing in Christ and doing so in community with others and bearing spiritual fruit that represents being connected to Him. You are spending time in prayer, reading the Bible, and allowing God’s Spirit to transform your heart. Growing in Christ is a natural and supernatural result of following Jesus.

As you grow closer to God in everyday life, you will desire to build a closer relationship with Him that characteristically defines your life.

If you’re looking for a place to grow deeper in your faith, we encourage you to participate in one of our many Grow Groups we offer in the Spring and Fall or join a year-long G3 Discipleship Group.

Serving

In response to all that God has done in your life, you follow His leadership in meeting the needs of others, caring for those who are hurting, praying for others, serving in the ministries of the church, and being part of God’s work in the world showing love to others so that they too may know the love of God.

We have many ways in which you can start serving others.

  • Through Connect Group outreach opportunities

  • Serve Day / Faith in Action

  • Missions

  • Meeting the needs of others

  • Being part of our Connections Team

  • Serving in our Kids and Student Ministries

Leading

You want to influence others and your world for Christ. You desire to do so by pouring your life into others. You want to bring Christ into the culture you encounter on a regular basis. You want to know how to better influence people to know Jesus in a transformational way.

If this describes you, God has prepared you to take on leadership. We have so many avenues in which you can use your God-given gifts to lead others.

  • Through leading a Connect Group (All Ages)

  • Through leading a Grow Group

  • Through being part of one of our event leadership teams

  • Through leading as part of one of our ministry teams (Men, Women, Missions, etc…)

  • Through starting a new ministry from the ground up!

  • Through living a life that inwardly and outwardly proclaims Christ!

You’ll notice the first two steps in this process are inward—but as one grows in their relationship with God, his or her faith naturally becomes outwardly actionable to influence others with the power of the Gospel.

Finding a Group that is Right for You.

  1. Determine where you are on your journey of faith.

  2. Choose a group that fits your journey of faith and helps you take the next step toward maturity (Connect Groups, Grow Groups, & G3 Groups)

  3. Register for your selected class (Connect Groups / Grow Groups) or email Paul Keating, our Discipleship Pastor

  4. Invite others to join you.
